Homemade Kahlua Hot Cocoa Recipe
Kahlua Hot Cocoa
By the time you read to the bottom of this recipe, you will find that this is simply a hot cocoa recipe that I added Kahlua to. It is so simply, but so good that I had to share. The best part about this is that you can make one pot full, pour the children's, then pour yours. No need for two batches. This is so rich and chocolatey, a small mug is enough to satisfy even the biggest chocolate cravings. Bon appetit!
Hot Cocoa:
1 cup water
3/4 cup sugar
1 cup cocoa powder
1 tsp salt
1 cup chocolate chips (such as Ghirardelli)
1/2 gallon milk
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp cinnamon
Whipped Cream:
small container of whipping cream
1 tbsp sugar
In a large pot on medium heat, mix water, sugar, cocoa powder, and salt. Whisk well. Add chocolate chips and whisk until melted. Add milk and continue to whisk. (A film may develop.) Add vanilla and cinnamon last. In a separate bowl, mix whipping cream and sugar, then beat until soft peaks can stand on their own. Pour hot cocoa into a mug and top with whipped cream. Garnish with chocolate chips, cocoa power, and add Kahlua if desired.
