Next Friday Night, June 5: Fuzz and Mac with DJ Battle in the Town of Halifax

The Town of Halifax is shaking things up and bringing in musicians all the way from Wilmington, NC and Brooklyn, NY for their annual Friday Night Jams live music event on Friday, June 5th.  This year's event features Fuzz and Mac, a soul and hip hop duo, along with DJ Battle.  Tickets are $10, and the gates will open at 7:30 pm.  Beer and food will be available, but proper ID is required for alcoholic purchases.
Hip Hop artist Fuzz Jaxx will perform with acoustic soul artist McClain Sullivan to beats provided by DJ Battle.  Fuzz and Mac have opened for The Roots,  Souls of Mischief, and Talib Kweli.  They have performed up and down the East Coast and West Coast.  They began as part of an 8 piece Hip Hop band, and later branched out together to release two full length albums.  They are individual artists who have learned to blend their unique styles into a jaw dropping performance.
Fuzz Jaxx, a Georgia native now living in Wilmington, NC  is known for commanding the stage.  He has been dubbed, "one of the nicest guys in hip hop", whose freestyle skills have been drawing huge crowds for over 15 years.    Fuzz has opened up for The Roots, Nicolay, Foreign Exchange, Little Brother, Ill Bill, Nonphixion , Camp Lo, Big Boi, Killer Mike, Souls of Mischief, Currenssy, and many more. He is not one to stop moving, and his talent for freestyle that has earned him respect and adoration.  When asked to describe performing with Fuzz, McClain Sullivan told Nu-Soul Magazine, " I love working with Fuzz (....) You should hear him freestyle. It is truly ridiculous. "
McClain Sullivan has a passion for making acoustic soul music.  She attended the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music, while developing her unique style. After living in different states, she has settled into living and performing in Brooklyn, NY.  Line Up Magazine calls McClain 'a bona fide super talent, about to shake the musical community to the bone.'  She has been featured in Rolling Stone Italia, Nu Soul Magazine, and Crankbox. McClain has played the Savannah Jazz Festival, Fillmore Jazz Festival, House of Blues and the Hammerstein Ballroom.
Fuzz and Mac will be performing to music provided by DJ Battle.  A new Jersey native, DJ Battle has been voted as Wilminton NC's number one DJ for the past seven years, and has opened for Kanye West, Method Man and Redman, John Legend, Little Brother, Big K.R.I.T., and more.
Event Coordinator, Rebecca Ramey, owes the idea for this year's music genre to sponsor Kajeah Enterprises.  "When I spoke to Kajeah to sponsor last year's event, he mentioned the lack of live hip hop music in our region.  This stuck with me.  The hip hop genre is the second most popular music, behind rock, and is more popular then pop or country.  Yet, I couldn't recall seeing any advertisements for live hip hop in our area in the last 10 years that I have lived here.  So, I wanted to fix that."  She hopes that this year's venue will draw a large crowd.
