14 Valentine's Day Ideas in Danville, South Boston, Halifax, and Clarksville, Virginia

Valentine's Day is less than a week away and happens to fall on a Saturday this year. Many restaurants and other businesses get really creative offering dining and date night ideas for the occasion, often preparing special meals and offering great special packages. Here is a list of  some of those creative packages for your Valentine's Day. I've taken the guess work out of compiling the list, so all you need to do is decide which one to do.    
1. Monday, February 9, Valentine's Day Makeover Night, featuring Luscious Lips and Sensuous Scents with light refreshments 6:30-8:30 at the Holiday Inn in South Boston. Try out some new lip colors and glosses and sample some scents that may be perfect for your upcoming Valentine's Day plans.
2. Ohm Yoga in Halifax Pre-Valentines Couples Yoga Friday, Febraury 13th at 7pm, $25 per couple. Reconnect with a partner or friend on a deeper level with yoga. No experience necessary; this workshop is for newbies and experienced yogis alike. In this workshop we will learn to support each other in poses aligning our bodies, creating balance and becoming present.
3.  Simple Splendor Salon in South Boston is offering three different Valentine's Day packages in varying price ranges, up to the St. Valentine's Day of Pampering, which includes a one Hour Massage, Mani and Pedi, Hair, and Makeup from $120.00. That would make for a well received gift.

5. The Golden Leaf Bistro in Danville is offering a special Valentine's Weekend Menu for February 13 and 14, featuring four courses for $50/guest, with alcohol specials. 6. Berry Hill Resort and Conference Center is located on River Road in South Boston. The Berry Hill Romance Package for Two sounds like a wonderful overnight getaway. It includes accommodations for two, fruit, cheese and champagne in your room, a three course dinner, and cocktails. This package is expected to sell out, but there may still be time. 7. Dinner at Molasses Grill in the Town of Halifax - Dine in or enjoy a romantic Valentine's Day at home with Molasses Grill's special take out package: 2 appetizers, 2 entrees, chocolate dipped strawberries, a bottle of wine and a house made baguette all for just $46 per person! 8. Dinner at Cooper's Landing in Clarksville From Wednesday February 11 through Saturday, February 14, you can treat your sweetheart to a night of tantalizing dishes . . . the perfect romantic setting for your Valentine! Chateaubriand for Two, Chocolate Covered Strawberries, Mocha Crème Brule, Long Stem Roses and More.  
9. Cooper's Landing in Clarksville is also offering a cooking class following Valentine's Day. The topic of the February 15-16 class is "Valentine's Cooking Class...Food as the Ultimate Aphrodisiac." 6:00 Wine and Cheese Reception, class begins at 6:30.

10. New City Dance Space in Danville is hosting a Valentine's Dance. Come dance with your special sweetheart or any of the fabulous family members of New City Dance Space this Saturday, February 14, from 7:30 until 9 pm. The cost is only $10 per person, and promises to be fun! There will be finger foods and a champagne toast. Please call for more information 434.799.5521.
11. The Riverview Rotary Club  is also hosting a Valentine Dance this Friday, February 13 from 8pm until midnight at the Stratford Conference Center in Danville. Tickets are $25 each, with all proceeds going toward Rotary's goal of ridding polio worldwide. What an incredibly worthwhile fundraiser, and a  fun event, too! 12. You've heard it said that laughter is the closest distance between two people. See if it's true while you take in a comedy show at The Historic North Theatre in Danville this Friday, February 13 at 8pm, tickets $15 each. Or let Elvis set the mood on Saturday.  Elvis will be in concert at the Historic North Theatre this Saturday, February 14 at 8 pm, reserved orchestra seating $20, general admission $15.   
13. If you love to run, the Valentine's Day 14K is for you. Start February 14 off on the right foot with a run beginning at 10am on the Ringgold Trail, beginning at the Ringgold Depot. This is described as a "low key event," and will have a donation box and hot and cold beverages waiting for you. See the Danville Runner link here for more information, and enjoy the run. The weather is supposed to be gorgeous that day.
14.  Southern Virginia is for History Lovers! The 234th Anniversary Commemoration of the Crossing of the Dan Revolutionary War Historical Event will occur this February 14 at the Prizery in South Boston. Numerous events are planned for more than a week leading up to the big event. On February 14, there will be a keynote speaker at 10am, a wreath laying ceremony at 11 am at the site on the Dan River, followed by a reenactment of the Crossing of the Dan River. Please see the schedule of events and additional information here.  While you are at the Crossing of the Dan, find Halifax County's LOVE sign at its temporary location between the Prizery and the Dan River. Be sure to show your love by posting your pics using the hashtag #LOVEHalifaxVa.
